It’s been around 24 hours since we wrote about the Iraqi Government coming out on the internet to spread their word since the American invasion of Iraq. This followed by a Josh-type rage of many Mumbaikars pertaining to the one year anniversary of the 26/11 terrorist attacks on Mumbai.
There were music concerts and candle light vigils all around the city, but like someone rightly said ‘you don’t feel the pain unless you’ve lost someone from your own family.’ I totally agree with NSG commando Sandeep Unnikrishnan’s father when he said that everyone wants a hero in their neighbourhood, but in their own homes.

Stories and their outcome remain, as they get lost somewhere in the pages of uncertainty after few years. With no glory justified to the history of mankind, there’s one true master which keeps it alive, the internet. Reviving the images of epical tales and chronicles of the past, Google decides to do something for Iraq’s National Museum. How many of you’ll know about the Mesopotamia, the Cradle of Civilization? Majority of us don’t. What is now the modern-day Iraq was once known as Mesopotamia a region considered by many as the “cradle of civilization.”
The National museum consists of innumerable valuable artifacts and treasures which were burried between the layers of citites, ruins and hills. They came to light by foreign scientific missions who intended to discover the remains of the great Iraqi heritage. Google puts up thousands of images of ancient artifacts at Iraq’s National Museum online. This being a part of America’s bid to entice foreign firms to invest in Iraq, well that’s intimidating! Invasion first and then making up for the slips?

The invasion cost the museum a lot of looting as the troops were unable to protect its walls from the unneeded rage by the US militants who took on Baghdad. Around 6,000 of the 15,000 items stolen have been returned to the museum. Now Google takes this initiative to enable people all over the world to watch these ancient possessions sitting at home.
