NSE Nifty On Twitter – Next Its BSE?

So being on twitter seems to be the fad of the era we live in and it doesn’t matter if you are a celebrity or a politician. What may matter though is the fact that now NSE Nifty i.e. the National Stock Exchange of India has gone ahead and started an official account on twitter.
The id is @NSE_Nifty and as of the now automated tweets on the changes that happen to the National stock exchange are being tweeted.
Businessline reports that this account is just a week old and has already got over 1000 followers and why not as stock markets and stock prices have often been the talking point on twitter. Dont believe me? Try searching RIL shares or BSE sensex and you would know that the junta on twitter is clued into the market movements.
The other advantage of twitter is the sms updates which came into being post its tie up with airtel in India. Internationally twitter has been the platform that many indices have adopted right from London’s FTSE, Japan’s Nikkei, and America’s Nasdaq.
Though late this is a good initiative by NSE to go more web savvy and even though Indian numbers are few currently on twitter when compared to facebook or orkut its still a platform which attracts more serious profiles that the other two. Also its status update only feature makes it ideal for news streaming and stock updates which is the attraction factor for those who want to follow such content. Who knows the 100 year old BSE Sensex could be next to adopt this new medium of keeping brokers and retail investors informed.
