Apple App store made the app store concept famous when its own app store touched the 2 billion download mark. This got all and sundry looking at the app store model. Nokia entered with ovi though one has to say that nokia ovi vs apple app store battle is still being won by apple. We have earlier debated on the benefits and problems between web based mobile apps vs native mobile apps. All in all this move by Blackberry indicates that India is fast becoming and important market for them. After all its difficult to ignore a country with 500+ million mobile subscribers and growing!
Arvind Rao in his recent talk in Mobile Apps conference had also emphasized that the app store could be a god send boon for app developers. Lets hope for app developers sake there is ongoing uptake of apps in India.
