Bharti Airtel Q2 Results : Top line higher by 9%,Profits up 13%
Bharti Airtel registered a 9% Y-o-Y growth in revenues to Rs.9,846 Crores. The net Profit was up by 13% Y-o-Y at Rs. 2,321 Crores. The company registered a sequential decline in both revenues and profitability as in Q1 Bharti registered Rs. 9941 Crores in top line and Rs.2516 Crores in bottom line.

The EBITDA margins in this quarter has seen improvement and were 42.1% from 41.0% in the corresponding period of the previous year. EBITDA grew 12% at Rs. 4,142 crore.
In a statement, Mr. Sunil Mittal, Chairman & Managing Director, Bharti Airtel, said “We continue to maintain our market leadership position in the Mobile segment, despite ever-increasing competitive intensity. I am pleased that the nascent DTH business is evolving towards leadership in several states, on the strength of a superior product and quality service. The Telemedia and Enterprise segments have created new revenue streams, especially in the data business.”
ARPU’s were down 24 per cent at Rs.252 against Rs.272 a year ago. The average minutes of Usages was also down by 15% to 450 minutes.
Bharti maintained its leadership position and had 113.4 Mn. customers an increase of 42% over the corresponding period last year. Company maintained a market share of 23.5% and registered Net additions of 82.44 lakh customers in this quarter. Telemedia subscribers has seen a 4 % Q-o-Q growth at 0.29 millions.
As reported by WATBlog earlier ,Bharti Airtel seems to have turned greater attention towards its telemedia division as potential growth in this segment is much higher than even telecom growth at the moment . The enterprise segment is also becoming a key driver for Airtel in terms of revenue and profitability.
The company may seem to be doing good on a yearly basis but the sequential quarter performance may have missed the analysts expectations. The company’s share are also quoting at a yearly low in a rising markets signaling not all is well for telecom biggies in quarters to come.
