Should TRAI Interfere In Mobile Tariff Plans? – Bharti’s Mittal Thinks NOT!

TRAI recently stated that it would make it mandatory for all operators to have a one second pulse for charging consumers. While this might be seen as a good move from the consumers point of view and we have blogged the same as well but from the operators point of view this would mean slimming revenues.

Now Bharti Telecom which is headed by Sunil Mittal was asked his views on the so called directive by TRAI that makes the one second pulse mandatory. Mittal stated in this report that ‘the telecom regulator should not take a call on the tariff plans of mobile telephony companies. Instead, it should leave the decision to bill customers either on a per second basis or a per minute basis to individual mobile operator’

We would like to know our readers take on this.
