Ebay India has always found the Online shopping environment in India challenging enough to keep innovation drive going. In a recent move it introduced Global EasyBuy which allows Indian shoppers to buy from international Ebay merchants directly (currently Ebay US) with international shipping and handling facility for all products.
This feature went live few weeks ago and Ebay already claims to have availability of 1.8 Crore items from international sellers on its Global Easybuy platform.
How to use the service?
- To Shop internationally on Ebay India site, a user requires ID on Ebay India.
- Visit [ www.ebay.in/globaleasybuy ] or [ www.ebay.in/geb ], and choose items from US site given in different categories.
- The prices are indicative in Indian rupees and as such includes all the international shipping & handling plus custom duty charges.
- A user can only pay for transaction through PaisaPay (online credit card and bank transaction facility from Ebay).
- The user continue to get feedback on items as well as get insurance and other PaisaPay protection.
Global EasyBuy has the following advantages:
- Secure and protected transaction via PaisaPay.
- Pay in Indian rupees.
- Payment is inclusive of customs duties and international shipping charges.
- Protection against delayed delivery of items of damage of items in transit.
How does the service work?
The products shipped to Indian shoppers are done by putting an international reseller in place. The reseller buys it from the original seller in US and then sells it to Indian buyers by levying international shipping and handling charges plus a profit.
Ebay as such allows only items from reputed sellers and the items on the Global Easybuy can only be shipped to India. Thus cannot be shipped or gifted to someone in US.
The programme supports only fixed price items and do not include auction items.
