About Startup: SalenOffers is an online information service (Not an ecommerce service). It provides you sale and offers whenever and wherever they are running in your town and its across brands and segments, The information is both about online and offline sales, Most of the brands are clothes and lifestyle related. The idea is to grab opportunities and get there first.
About Founders: The company behind SalenOffers is Forysta Ventures. Founded by Kunal Mehta whose previous stint was with R K SWAMY BBDO as brand associate and prior to that as Business Development Associate with Directi.
Funding Status: Self funded as of now
WAT’s HOT: This is an unserved market, There are a bunch of online sites that do this but none that cover cities and go indepth in only providing sale and offer information. One other competitor that I can think of is Metromela.com. All in all a huge market size and ease of execution as well as the transaction isn’t online but offline and this is just and information services play. Last but not the least the domain name is excellent.
WAT’s NOT: Challenges include in information retrieval and traction building. Both these needs to go hand in hand. Also the tipping point in such a business with respect to revenue usually takes months if not years. Many retailers also are online savvy and would send mailers to their subscribed members on offers and may not see real value in such a services. All in all a challenging market to scale in.

One question on this; how do the web site owners get the offers from the retailers(ex reebok, adidas etc )? and do the retailers charge the web site owners for this.
