Well I just got a beta invite to Yahoo meme and have spent last few hours checking out the platform. Again this platform is more similar to pownce and by that definition also similar to Facebook’s newly launched Lite version. Here is a feature by feature look at Yahoo meme.
It has four options of posting content Text, photo, video and music. If you compare that to Facebook lite the only extra option is music.

Yahoo meme has the same feature of following other peoples meme much like twitter. It also has a repost function which mimics the retweet function in twitter. Check screenshot below.
We had blogged about Yahoo’s plans to integrate meme with mail and when that happens this platform is sure to scale fast. I quite like meme to facebook’s lite purely because facebook has a baggage of the past while meme is new. While facebook has always been more than just status updates and even though its trying hard to change that it wont be easy. Twitter on the other hand is on a different league of its own with celebs and politicians flocking to it and it getting tons of TV and print coverage for free based on the hype around it.
Though we do feel that twitter needs to expand its set of features. One of them being a retweet button which is very much required in the web version even though a lot of 3rd party twitter apps have the same integrated. All in all yahoo meme looks promising and can have several integration points with the yahoo site. Hope they do that well and we dont see another shut down of a yahoo site before it even takes off.

meme.yahoo.com is much much better than twitter. It will surely be popular among users if twitter will not do anything to counter the yahoo meme..(twitter should have similar features and more)
