WWW: WAT Weekly WrapUp 23rd – 30th August


A lot happened last week and the long list of stories below is a testament to the same. In major news telecom ruled the headlines with the 3G Base Price being finally fixed on 3500 crores, then came news of Skype Phone to be launched by Belkin in India with ISD rates as low as 1 Re. There was also the news of samsung launching Android phones by the end of the year so all in all telecom scene in India seems to be bustling with news. On the web front Govt Of India plans to launch a jobsite of its own and the hindification of the web continued with a Travel Portal launching in hindi. There was also news on a Digital Store For Music Bands to sell their music online. On the advertising front Networkplay got into DTH Advertising by roping in Airtel DTH, Qeep tied up With ZestADZ, Mobile Internet Ad Spend projections were made for 2014.

On the large companies front Nokia made three very important announcements that of Nokia Booklet 3G i.e. their netbook and Nokia Money i.e. they mpayment offering. The last but not the least was their announcement of N900 a linux based iphone killer by nokia.
