Networkplay the ad network affiliated to Webchutney has signed up Airtel DTH as a client. This positions networkplay as the first online ad network to venture into DTH advertising space.

Networkplay has been in the news for signing up online destinations like gawker and linkedin and with this new client they have gone into a different sphere as far as segment and reach is concerned.

With its exclusive tie up on Airtel DTH it can reach SEC A & B audience in over 4000 towns in India where currently Airtel DTH service has a penetration of over 1.3 Million households and growing at a rate of 16% month on month.

Ad formats available include Video, GIF and JPEG on properties such as Boot Screen/EPG Screen, Itravel, Ishop, Imatinee, Icity, Inews, Ipizza, IAstro and various other services available on Airtel DTH.

Opportunity for DTH + Online Ad Sales?

This news throws up an interesting angle of DTH + Online ad combination. Would the fact that online ad networks are representing DTH ad sales impact the growth of online advertising as well?

It will be interesting if Networkplay has the same ad sales team selling both DTH and online because then a combination could be pitched to advertisers and online would be a natural beneficiary. Our sources tell us that the sales team is likely to be the same and not different for DTH.

    It’s something awesome but I think in near future advertisers would like to reach to specific TG and want to understand customer behavior. In India if advertiser on online want to release an ad they can reach to specific city, the same way if a company like Networks they start flashing ads on IPTV then it will be a great boost for advertisers because then they will be able to reach to their core and TG with very specific offer and communication based on the customers region and city.
