Sometimes it is so funny when you see the ‘heavy weights’ in the global Internet industry scamper around fighting competition. Google fighting Microsoft for search engine market share, Microsoft fighting Google in the operating systems space, Microsoft clinging to Twitter for branding (remember BingTweets?) and Facebook experimenting with revamped user interface, Facebook Lite, etc. fearing a loss of market share to Twitter.
It is healthy competition except that when I think about it, everyone from the mighty Google to Facebook seem scared at this service called Twitter which firstly, goes down every second day and secondly, doesn’t seem to get a business model anytime soon.

The mobile phone is a critical space to be in especially since this omnipresence on internet and mobile will provide users to access their social network anytime and anywhere. Facebook tested a Lite version last week, probably for people in areas with slower internet speeds to be able to access their website. Today, Facebook has submitted a ‘much improved’ Facebook 3.0 app for iPhones to the App Store.
This new app is expected to let users access the News feed very much like from the website, ‘like’ items and also let them customize their home page. In all probability, this is just a normal upgrade that the Facebook engineers are up to. But in face of the competition from Twitter, the pace of upgrades seem all the more exciting.

i think Twitter’s power lies in the fact that it is gaining momentum in doing what they want
“to be the pulse of the earth”
you know. to redefine communication. to be as important as keeping a cell phone.
agreed, they are far away from it, but they are closer than others. and the business model should come soon too.
