269 Million handsets were shipped in the second quarter of this year, a little improved figure compared to the 253.5 million handsets shipped in the first quarter, reported ABI Research and the same is confirmed by Gartner. Though the numbers are still sharply down compared to last year, Improved sales figures are for sure signaling a turnaround.
The economic slow down still has it’s impact on overall figures but smart phone sales kept growing as expected with a 27 percent growth year-on-year to 40 million devices.

- Apple’s market share grew to 13.3 percent from 2.8 percent last year.
- Handset display market hit the bottom, while it is expected to grow to 360 million the third quarter.
