Star News has launched their own branded channel on youtube recently and claims a great response to the same. A look at the youtube channel shows that all special shows of Star News like Sansani, Saas Bahu Saazish, Khabar Filmi Hai, including clips of latest breaking news, events and happenings are being updated on the channel. They also have plans to launch other channels under MCCS which are Star majha (marathi) and Star Ananda (bengali) and its programming via the youtube platform.
A Concious Effort To Building Online Viewership
Star News is run by Media Content and Communications Services (MCCS) India pvt ltd which is a Joint Venture between Star India pvt Ltd and the Ananda Bazar Patrika group and just like Star India it seems to be focused on building an online viewership. Star India off late have started getting active online by launching startv.in and their video player star player. This move to create a youtube channel for star news is aimed at taking content beyond their own platforms. Other news channels like NDTV have been doing so with their youtube channel for sometime now.
As the online population grows and platform like youtube start becoming mainstream in India content publishers of video will surely consider it as ‘the platform’ to engage on. The monetization is still the weak point but given the impending growth of online audience its imperative that players like Star start engaging with the audiences early and thats the trend we seem to be seeing now.
