Star Player Showcases TV Series Before Being Aired – What’s With The Jumping Off Strategy?

The first ever to happen in India, Star premieres two television series online before being aired on the television. The two Star Plus shows Aap Ki Kachehri (Season 2) anchored by Dr Kiran Bedi and family drama, Sajan Ghar Jaana Hain, were premiered on Star Network’s video sharing location, Star Player. This is only the first step for the recently launched STAR Player’s objective to stream premium quality shows. India’s first online television product, is the online video destination for premium copyrighted content. Like NDTV’s Tubaah star would allow other broadcasters to upload their content on Star Tv’s platform. Star also plans to monetize this site via ads like pre-roll, post-roll, overlay and in-banner video advertising. WATBlog was right on this when Star launched their Player.

The drama does not end here. There were other players who started their own version of a similar destinations long back. But the question we asked our readers was ‘Will it add a UGC element?’. There was another player who tried to use the You-Tube strategy. Star Player supports and enhances the overall equity of the Star Network because its full-length content is an added layer that drives content consumption post on air playout. This platform lets Star India exploit synergies within its own ecosystem and create a better delivery system for advertisers wherein they engage meaningfully with their audience via the STAR Network. What a preamble!!!

Is this the latest trend to attract more advertisng revenue? Or is it another gimmick to attract users?
