Awaiting 3G Services? Here Comes The 4G Gaga

After the 3G Saga, here comes the 4G gaga. The 3G spectrum auction is yet to be nailed down, and the DoT is thinking about introducing the fourth generation technologies. The 4G revolution will be called LTE (not LeT). It stands for Long Term Evolution. Don’t go with the name, since there’s more to it that needs to be discussed and then it might get finalised followed by nail-biting future of the same.

For all who are still trying to figure out what could 4G possibly have for them, here are some features that might attract you attention.
Flash-OFDM, the 802.16e mobile version of WiMax (also known as WiBro in South Korea), HC-SDMA.

Long Term Evolution, is unquestionably the next step of mobile evolution, designed to increase the capacity and speed of mobile telephone networks. Major mobile carriers in the United States and several carriers worldwide have announced plans to convert their networks to LTE. However, the technology is still being developed worldwide. Companies including Ericsson and Nokia Siemens are working towards developing standards.

4Gprerequisites

Prerequisites of 4G -

DoT came up with the idea to bring 4G in India .This could be uptil 2.1 Ghz band, as 2.5 Ghz is mostly used for satellite-based networks. But they also mentioned something very important at a presentation to the Empowered Group of Ministers that operators will need atleast the minimum channel size for 4G which is 10 Mhz. Wow! What a dream!

  • One can access high speed wireless Internet at three times the 3G standards enabling services such as streaming video, social networking and mobile TV.
  • Data transfer rates to and from mobile devices between 15 and 100 times faster than 3G networks
  • Downlink peak rates of at least 100Mbps.

Since 2004 we heard DOT is working on 3G still that’s not available in India and they are talking about 4G. Most of the nations have started 3G service since 2000. Do one thing at a time please don’t mess-up things.
