Twitter Launches Real Time Search Widget
More Twitter news. We’ve covered realtime-search engines like Collecta before. And there are loads of other sites that do real-time search, including Bing which recently added Tweets to its search (also more recent : BingTweets). Tweettabs for example allows you to monitor all the search-queries you want with almost instant refresh rates. Other Desktop Clients like TweetDeck offer the same services. So then, why the hype about Twitter launching a real-time search Widget?
- Twitter getting serious about real-time search (as opposed to search.twitter.com, it actually refreshes instantly)
- Integrate Twitter with websites (instead of third-party widgets, an official Twitter widget will be obviously be more appreciated)
The Widget allows you to customise size, colour, title etc. and generates a code which you can embed on your website.

Obviously, there are several improvements that could be made, allowing for a Retweet option, different searching tips (instead of a preset onetime-customised one), allowing you to access your twitter account from your website. The possibilities are endless when it comes to Twitter’s developing Ecosystem.
There are several Twitter gadgets and tools available. Twit Connect is one such that I found on the Internet, along with several articles on how Twitter Connect could be as useful as Facebook Connect. Techcunch’s take on it is here.
The point being, that Twitter seems to have proper plans to roll out into the market. We saw a glimpse of their high aspirations here where they stated a goal of one billion users by 2013. So what’s next on Twitter’s mind?
We covered Twitter’s Stats as reported by Sysomos recently, and more recently, some Twitter Best Practices. Now, Twitter’s gone ahead, changed it’s homepage and released Twitter #101.
