City Centric Jobs And Jobs For Freshers Is New Strategy Of Job Sites

If you have a resume, we have a job! Sound’s familiar? That’s right, job seekers could continue keeping their fingers crossed again. Job portals have devised new strategies to target fresh graduates. Despite the flinching market, as a result to global economic drop job-sites have come up with an innovative idea. Naukri.com, too, feel that first-time job seekers could open up a new segment.

They launch city -specific portals to attract candidates from one particular city. The Economic Times spoke to Vivek Madhukar, VP, TimesJobs.com who thinks that the content and the jobs listed in city portals are more focused and serve the interests of both job-seekers and recruiters. Job-seekers would like to stay at a particular location. While the recruiters would like to recruit people who are already in the city. The employer and the candidate would prefer specific location as it would be more convenient for both.

Times Business Solutions and Info Edge own timesjobs.com and Naukri.com respectively. TimesJobs look to concentrate on city-specific recruitment while Naukri.com have come up with new portals for fresh graduates. TimesJobs has also started CampusDirect that introduces freshers directly to the employers. They have launched such portals for Delhi and Mumbai already, which are among the eight city-specific portals that they plan to launch. Bangalore portal will be coming up very soon.

The whole idea of starting such portals is to create more opportunities for young talented freshers who are seeking jobs for the first time. They end up uploading their resumes on popular job sites like naukri and timesjob. A fresher’s resume doesn’t look like the brightest bulb on a tanning bed! Hence they have FirstNaukri and My C2C. They are portals which will enable colleges to migrate from campus recruitment to online mode. They can do so by uploading resumes of their students on the portal.

We have covered firstnaukri before and such initiatives indicate that jobsites are constantly looking for newer arena’s to conquer and earn revenues from.

I’m glad that there seem to be more and more up and coming websites to help the unemployed. Naukri sounds interesting. I also discovered another website after spending a majority of my days searching for jobs. Its called Uvisor and it matches you with employers and finds jobs that are suitable for you. It hasn’t launched yet, but I predict that it will be the next big social networking site for professionals looking for jobs. Check it out at http://www.uvisor.com

Other such player in the freshers domain which i came across is CoCubes.com which deals with freshers and help connect the companies with the colleges. This is a SMS based platform which is very interactive and innovative. It ties up with colleges and no individual student can access the opportunities provided by CoCubes.com. A great concept indeed !!!
