Rediff.com Undergoes Major Revamp – Takes Cue From Rediff Abroad – No Ads On HomePage!
Update 2: The new rediff.com is now live. This is the biggest cosmetic change to rediff.com in recent times.
Update: We are told that the new look would be live by today evening. We shall bring you more updates as we have them..
rediff India is testing a complete revamp of its homepage. Gone are the days of clutter and here are the days of no scroll 8 icon based (almost iphone screen like) hompage. Also notice the complete lack of any advertising on the homepage. Some may say this is a death wish – Aren’t rediff homepage ads the most expensive?
New Homepage (we took this screenshot while the new look was supposedly being tested few minutes ago)
Old Homepage (Now this look is back live at time of posting this post)
We are surprised rediff is taking such a bold move (given last quarters financial results) and that too with its homepage and almost each section of its website. This clearly marks a move by rediff to become more mobile friendly as a portal for its users. There is also a prominent link on top left asking users to visit their mobile site, The move started first with its revamp of its rediff US site and now it seems they plan to implement the same on the India site as well.
Whats new on the homepage
The homepage now clearly highlights 8 sections which include News, Movies, Cricket, Money, rediffmail, Mypage (A social network + social aggregator), Ishare and Shopping. Its a complete minimalistic look and a lot of services like rediff iland, connexions and many others seem to have taken a backseat with this hompage design.

Yes, even I noted this today.
The new look is not all that good, and is pale. There is not much content on the homepage.
We are so used to the old look.
Hi!
I think the new look is uncluttered and will benefit rediff in the long run. It is lighter, leaner and neater. The change will take some time to sink in, but the chnge is for the better.
Hi,
I liked the rediff newlook. Its indeed very mobile friendly & easy interface, But being a media planner I believe the biggest disadvantage is its unavailability of property spaces on the home page. Generally agencies in India prefer ROS & home page properties compared to the inner one. As a rediff user, I love the new easy navigation & interface.
The new look is totally out of place. IT has become really cumbersome to read. The earlier home page was easy to browse and news reading was absolutely a breeze
i feel they should also give a link on the page which should take users to the old site. i am sure most of the users feel very uncomfortable with something very new, even if it is good.
the design is nice and definitely they are targeting the right audience, the mobile users.
I totally hate new homepage…
Everybody likes only the old page…..Give the oldpage or else better give a link to the old home-page.
the new look is bad,the old one was better
I love the new home page! it is clutter free, simple, easy to use and pleasing to the eyes. It goes well with the theme of the rediff.com and its applications which is minimalistic, useful and simple. Much like the way google is designed.
The new look of rediff is not as good as the old one I was a frequent visitor of rediff but after the redesigning i have left rediff. It is far less informative than the old one.
The rediff iland looks good but very poorly executed and not at all user friendly. Their help guide looks as if it were written by a Kindergartner –
– Proper feedbacks were never sought leaving many bloggers in the lurch – leaving comments for blogs is like having to walk through airport security – wading through the blogsite is like walking through a minefield – they took away the dream scape and avatars which many bloggers used as their identity – took away the posting pics in comment section – I could go on –
I sincerely hope they make it more easier or bloggers will be heading off to other blogspots which are more user friendly
