At WATBlog, we regularly keep you updated about any news from the much awaited Mobile Number Portability plan. Here comes a disappointing news that MNP service may be delayed due to some issues from service providers end. They are creating roadblocks by saying that rolling out of MNP in phases doesn’t seems feasible.

Roadblocking Issues
- More than 200 sites have technical issues in mapping of STD code and LRN (Location Routing Numbers)
- Unable to do Pan-India readiness for MNP
- Problem in charging & call routing of MNP
- Tough to meet deadlines
However, DoT is strict about the timeline and closed his ears for the words of service providers and want it to be launched on schedule time. First phase of MNP is scheduled to be launched by September 09.
MNP is going on the track of 3G service, as 3G is already much delayed in India. Other countries are moving towards 4G and we are still lacking these. Service providers are also not welcoming MNP move and trying to make it delay more as the big ones are set to lose some subscribers to smaller players. Though almost all the players provide similar services and prices and the Rs. 400 transfer cost might cause hindrance and we have mentioned how even after MNP is implemented it may not have a major impact.
