Google Finance Revamped – A Prelude To More Such Moves?
It seems after the ‘out-of-beta’ buzz, Google is taking the revamp strategy to pull in more users. It just recently revamped Google Finance, financial analysis portal.
The revamped layout is just few days old and is slimmer and more useful then the previous one. The changes were essential as the site was attaining mainstream uses due to its varied useful features.

Changes made in Google Finance:
- Google finance now provides a left-navigation bar that lets users move between the major sections of the site in one click. Links to sub-sections, like portfolio related news or individual portfolios. This would surely make Google finance much simpler in use.
- Now users can also drag and drop section items in home page by clicking the arrow given above the box.
- Users can also customize charts in a better way by accessing chart Settings which allows to view OHLC and Candlestick charts.

- The most enticing change which may work in its favor is the introduction of Advanced Technical information like simple moving averages etc. available to users at fingertips. Users can also use multiple averages at the same time.

This revamp in financial portals would certainly cause jitters to behemoths like moneycontrol and wikinvest as they would now have to match the service offered by Google Finance. Although this certainly comes as good news for net savvy investors.
Google through its financial analysis portal and other businesses would surely like to acquire big ticket advertisers in future as and when it attracts a respectable user base for such services. This also opens up space for more rejigs in many of its high flying services.

Hi WATblog guys. I have been wanting to write this comment for a long time. In the last couple of months most of the posts on your blog are merely rehashes of news stories which have become important in the western internet media. Most of your stories do not concern the Indian readers whom I believe you are catering to. And even if they matter most of your regular readers will be reading the US / European blogs. I would really prefer if you focus more on local startups and local stories. You may get more stories by sourcing from TC, GigaOm etc but it will be better for you to concentrate more on Indian startups and the Indian scene. Sorry but I had to say this. Have been thinking for a long time . Finally decided to write it.
@sidharth – Thanks so much for your feedback. We shall make it a point to do as many Indian stories as possible and still have an international updates every now and then.
Google reverted ‘Google finance’ settings to earlier one. I saw new version described by this article in morning but now they are back to square one. Is it because of some loophole they left and found out when they went live? Or some security issue? Is this one more glitch from Google? Let’s keep fingers crossed. Hope you will report when Google blog come up with RCA on this. Thanks.
@ sidharth
I can assure you every story done on WATBlog concerns Indian web users because we have strict policy on it.We also publish stories only concerned with Web-Advertising-Technology in general.
This google finance post in general was WATExclusive cos not a single major blog highlighted it before us,It also made sense as google finance fully supports Indian bourses(Stock exchange) and attracts lot of uses from Indian users.
We would definitely consider and look forward for your suggestions. Thanks for reading WATBlog.
@ saurabh
Changes seems to be permanent on many accounts.Although the changes can’t be due to some security issues they are going to stay in future. We would keep you updated regarding future development on this issue.
Thanks for reading WATBlog.
