Task.fm seems to be on track to turn into a full-fledged reminding service similar to the capability currently showcased by rememberthemilk. It has recently added Twitter integration to its service.

Why use task.fm?

Task.fm is a reminding service which remind users about their task completion through e-mail, SMS, Voice Calls and Twitter. This sort of reminding services has off lately come into focus due to the increase in work productivity levels by using them.

Task.fm’s USP lies in the simplicity of use along with various channels of interaction it provides to its users. The service allows setting up of reminding notification on channels chosen by the users.

The service also allows reminding alerts through SMS/Voice calls although such alerts are capped to only 15 a month for non-paying subscribers. Task.fm permits creation of different to-do lists for purpose of reminding alerts and may work wonders for users looking for a mid-bridge between reminding service and to-do list.

To use service on twitter :

This would add the task to your account along with an added reminder to Your twitter account. Send a direct message like:

d@taskfm remind me to read WATBlog in 20 minutes

Criticism:

The SMS service is not available for India till now which could be a big let down for Indian users. The availability of higher SMS credit is also required to proliferate its uses.

The service also needs to catch up with various other options like Gmail Labs Plugin, desktop app. etc provided by the likes of RTM.

Reminding services are bridging the gap between a full fledged CRM solution to a SOHO based service. This services can be very work productive and could see future dominance as users accrue benefits from such services. Services such as Task.fm, RTM, to-do-mailer along with note taking apps. like Evernote are mostly banking on their pro packages to make money in future.
