Nokia Life Tools is a range of services aimed at emerging markets which include Agriculture infromation and Education services along with Entertainment offered in local languages.

Though some rural VAS providers are already in the market such as Cellebrum which is available on Idea Cellular, Life tools marks a significant development as the tools are integrated into the device and the Nokia being the Leader in the Indian Market.

What Life tools lack is they are not voice driven and thus will need customer to be able to read and write apart from the learning cycle it’d need to use the tools per se. To really get a leap ahead in Rural VAS Nokia needs to leverage on the recent innovations such as IBM’s HSTP to make it easier to even the illiterate to use the services.
