Sabsebolo.com which is a conferencing company started by the hotmail fame Sabeer Bhatia has acquired Jaxtr a widget based tool for making free calls from computer to phone. We had covered Jaxtr on WATBlog when they had added free sms capability in over 38 countries in the early part of last year and have covered Sabsebolo as well.

Jaxtr boasts of more than 10 million users worldwide across 220 countries and its services has been used across major social networking sites. Jaxtr competes with the likes of Jajah This acquisition can be put into context once you realise that Sabsebolo offers free conferencing and Jaxtr’s services fits in perfectly as it provides a widget which can be embedded on any page to make free calls. Under the terms of the acquisition Jaxtr will continue to be a separate brand and Sabse Technologies (the co behind sabsebolo) would continue to expand the services of Jaxtr.
Though some parts of Jaxtr’s technology will be integrated with Sabsebolo for attracting more users to their conferencing services and also taking their conferencing services to possibly widgets format that can be embedded on other portals and sites.
On the occassion of the acquisition Sabeer Bhatia – Chairman – Sabsebolo & Yogesh Patel – CEO Sabsebolo said “Jaxtr’s consumer services complement SabSe’s SMB portfolio perfectly. Aside from increasing our market penetration, this acquisition will enable serious growth for SabSe as we work with the local markets jaxtr currently serves”
I have personally used both sabsebolo and jaxtr and found both services to be very good. I hope Sabse is able to integrate jaxtr and its technology well as there is immense opportunity in the VOIP space in India.
