TwitGuru – A Unique Product Bidding / Promotion Tool On Twitter

By Yash Gandhi

An IT firm called hexolabs has launched its new project called twitguru. The site aims to act as a platform to launch products or do prelaunch promotional activities(giving away gift coupons or festive discounts) for anything sellable. Its very simple, visit the site, bid a price for the product displayed, update your tweet as: “@twit_guru I guess $(price) for #(productname)” followed by any message. Your bid gets updated with twitguru. Closest bid takes the product for free. This actually seems a great advertising strategy and both parties involved(twitter and twitguru) are sure to earn big bucks out of this venture.

Twitguru uses simple tools of advertising through word of mouth. A tweet by any user will make his followers to try it and the game angle instils a desire to go ahead. Also it isn’t the company sending mails and spamming accounts. Its simply a user twitting and its totally the twitterers wish to play or not. Hexolabs claims to have started off with a budget of as low as $100, according to me its more than sufficient. And the public reach that twitguru will get once it comes into place, it will earn atleast 3 times as much everyday.

Twitguru also helps the product’s advertising by making the user think about it, talk and search the internet, thereby increasing its visibility. Also anyone can advertise from comodities to lifestyle to airlines making it very generic.
