Best Online Resources For Stock Investment Analysis

After a long lull Indian equity markets are finally reviving to a great run. This historic pullback which is seen as precursor to Indian economic woes has confused many stock market players as how to choose their stocks.Even SEBI has called for greater investor awareness related to researching and avoiding biased views of some advisers.

So in order to do better investment research and analysis, here is a compiled  list of best online resources available for investment analysis.

Google finance:

Google finance is still the best site for technical and fundamental research.Although it lacks much historic stock trading data for few stocks and other asset tracker for mutual funds its still fully worth to try.The site lacks fast refreshing of stock data as its 20 mins behind the mainline but has very fast updates for company related news across the web.

Moneycontrol

Moneycontrol has become very annoying these days with pop-ups and lack of ajax on site. But it still is very good for researching as it has many technical and fundamental aspects like detail company info, balance sheet available at its helm. The site also boasts of forum supports for Individual shares.

Bloomberg:

Bloomberg although has no India dedicated site but it still has a very good resource for detail technical information about all the Indian stocks. It includes long term charts of almost all Indian Companies. To search for a company type the full name and select the indian stock with ‘in’ at the ending.

Rediff moneywiz

Rediff moneywiz offers very good stock comparable feature even for a layman. The site also offers detail financial data and may be a good pit against Moneycontrol as it offers clean layout.

Guruji Finance

Guruji finance is still evolving and includes smart features such as detail block deals information, news info, shareholding and financial data in one page.

MoneyVidya.com

MoneyVidya is a stock picking community. Though still in very early stages it provides good community driven insights and analysis for stocks.

Online Portfolio services:

There are only 3 portfolio services supporting Indian stocks worth a mention:

  • ET portfolio:

ET portfolio is a very simple and classic intuitive portfolio service.Although don’t just go by its simplicity as it also offers many advanced features like mutual funds and other asset investment watch.

  • Moneycontrol Portfolio:

Moneycontrol portfolio has a very analytical portfolio service which unlike its other services cracks up many times.Although it has a very good alert feature to offer along with support for other asset class.

  • Google finance:

Google finance too along with investment data provides a portfolio service. One can create as many portfolio for various purposes like mock trading or real investments.

What we recommend:

Portfolio: ET portfolio

Technical charts: Bloomberg,Google finance

Financial data: Moneycontrol,Rediff Moneywiz

  1. There is another offering for Portfolios from Reuters.

    https://commerce.in.reuters.com/login/pages/login/portfolioLogin.do

    I found it quite useful.

  2. There have been quite a few stock picking sites mushrooming such as http://www.stockezy.com, http://www.moneyworks4me.com. Wonder what could be the revenue model apart from ad revenues? Sites such as moneyworks4me atleast talks about a revenue model by its subscriptions services.

Though it is quite interesting to find a positive mention of moneycontrol’s alert services as well.

    Good article.

  4. @ shivprasad thanx for pointing that out…but its more of a social based portfolio service lacking additional features

Most of financial or research sites are depending on ad revenues which currently see big time ad dollars as many corporation bid as high as 8$ for some keywords…..
They also want to partake in the direct advertising revenues forked by by companies looking to notify investors about IPO’s,financial performances…Financial is a big sector so Ad revenue potential is also high especially in boom times…

  6. i put together a google custom search for stock analysis. stockoogle.com ..

  7. I like the Portfolio Application provided by http://stockezy.com/portfolio/ also they have very useful discussions and unique stock recommendation service which alerts users every move of stock picks, makes it more interactive
