Its literally raining startup events this summer with 3 big startup showcases lined up across June and July. In order of when they will be held these our Startup City (6th June – Bangalore), Headstart.in (20th June – Mumbai) and Proto.in (25th July – Pune)
Here is a lowdown on all these events, their format and what to expect from each of them.
Startup City
History & Info – Has had 1 previous edition in may last year. Organizing team are the people behind smart techie and silicon india. .Previous speakers at the event have been Ashish Gupta of Helion Ventures and Sharad Sharma of Yahoo India. You can see a detailed summary of last years event here
Current Event
Date -> June 6th, 2009
Venue -> NIMHANS Convention Centre, Bangalore

What to expect?
- Expect Over 80 startups, 40 VCs & 5000 attendees
- Talks from entrepreneurs like Ajit Balakrishnan, Rediff.com; Sanjeev Bikhchandani, Naukri.com & Sanjay Nayak, Tejas Networks.
- Live product demonstrations
- Indepth Panel Discussions with over 300 CEOs @ CEO Conclave
Headstart.in
History & Info – Has had 4 earlier editions. Organizing team based out of Bangalore and Mumbai lead by Aditya Misha, Kallol Bohra, Arpit Agarwal and Netra Parikh. Date -> June 20th, 2009
Venue -> Welingkars Institute of Management, Matunga, Mumbai

- 20 startup finalists – all going to the demo-pit
- Interaction with angels and ealry stage investors
- Showcase/demo – validation by community
- 100 investors, corporates, partners, organizers

Proto.in
History & Info – Has had 5 earlier editions. Organizing team based out of Chennai lead by Vijay Anand. Previous startup showcase has seen startups like ixigo, minekey, tenmiles and more. We have covered previous Proto events and here is a list -> Proto 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5
Current Proto Event
Date -> July 25, 2009
Venue -> Devang Mehta Auditorium, Persistent Systems, Pune

What to expect?
- A one day event. The First half filled with startup gyaan and second half will be startup showcase.
- 15 – 20, high quality startups for startup showcase
- Startups can expect coverage of the media, meeting with mentors, potential clients and funding entities.
- Expect most of the active Investment firms and investors e at Proto.in alongwith some HNIs and Investors to be visiting from abroad.
- 450+ attendees expected for the event.
How come no event from the WAT guys :p ?
