It looks like the Digital Media revolution is panning out across India in a big way. To reiterate the thought Technology Tracker 2009, an online survey conducted by media agency Dentsu states that Internet and digital habituation is on the verge of reaching an all time high level.
The survey goes on to conclude the following findings:
Gadgets:

The 2009 survey conducted among 1,900 people in 38 cities states that almost 59 per cent survey participants are totally dependent on Gadgets and use it on a daily basis up by 8% from 2007 study.
The category of people who could survive without any mobile usage plummeted to 18 per cent from 21 per cent two years ago.
Almost 15 per cent respondents said life would be very tough without laptops and 62 per cent of them thinks MP3 players are a must.Among music enthusiasts 44 per cent said they need iPods and iTunes for music.
In recent quarters Laptop sales in India is almost 1/3 rd of total PC shipments whereas branded desktop constitutes 61% of total market.
Internet:

In two years time no. of respondents dependent on Internet has surged Five fold from 44 percent from only 9 per cent,a very strong indicator of rising online usages and dependency.
The survey also concludes wide popularity of gaming sites as respondents referred to using gaming sites on a daily basis registered a three-fold rise in numbers.
This survey would clearly give a leeway to foreign Digital brands to foray into India in a big way as Digital habituation is evolving and the higher acceptance of categorical digital products also reveal the urge by users to get pampered in a same manner with their western counterparts.
The survey also emphasizes brand consciousness of Indian consumers as 52% respondents admitted to put brand awareness as top priority while making buying decision.
The survey could also mean good news for online gaming companies and Music ventures like Guruji’s may put a stop to fragmented market as majority of Internet users are still using the Net for downloading Music and playing games.
