Facebook, Nautanki.tv and Zee Come Together to Make Elections Results Live on the Web
Nautanki.tv in association with Facebook, will air the elections news special ‘Singhasan Ka Final’ LIVE on the internet for the first time in India. This will feature 3 days of continuous coverage in Hindi. The news special is in fact produced by Zee news to cover the election results. The show will basically stream the Lok Sabha elections results coverage live on the Internet from May 15 to May 17.
The important bit though is that Facebook has tied up with Nautanki.tv to make this whole scenario social.
According to Afaqs, the live coverage will be available on a special website called Elections.nautanki.tv. The website will go live on May 15 and apart from live video streaming, there will be a dash-board on the site which will reflect the updated score card or number of seats won by each political party.
Facebook comes in here by letting people discuss and debate on the basis of this site. Basically a Facebook application will be used on the site which will provide visitors to write down their views or comments related to the elections results coverage as it happens on the site.
For Nautanki this is both big in terms of technology as well as media pull. “We are looking forward to establish Nautanki.tv as the most preferred video broadcasting platform. This combination of innovation with technology will be the first of its kind, which will bring in new concepts to the Indian online industry. This initiative will also help us position ourselves of a trend-setter in the media world”, said Mr. Sunil Nair, CEO & Founder, Nautanki.tv Networks Pvt. Ltd in their release.
For Facebook, this seems another route in their newly found liking for India. Earlier we had announced them going live with regional language content for Facebook users to choose from and now there is the elections bait. The good part for both Facebook and Nautanki is that this move being unprecedented (SNS wasn’t in the picture during the last election), it will garner a lot of curious attention which is good. On the other hand, how well the move will work can only be predicted after the site goes live and the news start trickling in.
Interesting move, hopefully this can lead to more integration of social media among mainstream users as both Facebook and Nautanki would be hoping.
