Have you ever imagined that how long you use the google products such as gmail, youtube, orkut, map etc., in a day? Do you know Google knows more about you then yours parents or other close ones? Google has the record of what mail you have received, what kind of videos you watch, what you searched on Map, what kind of data u have stored in google doc, what and how many webpages you have browsed, with whom you chat and for how long and a lot more. All this information is stored in google servers.
This may raise question about privacy of user’s information, don’t know how google can use this information and till what extent. It has full control over your online behavior and in the future google is planning to offer behavioral advertising as well. With the help of information provided by you directly or indirectly, Google could pull together in-depth profiles of the users and launch highly user targeted ads. Google is also planning to show the ads based on the Web pages you browsed.
Google says that the privacy of user information is fully under control, third parties can’t get access to user’s personal information and they have all the internal controls over the data to ensure user’s privacy. In practice, google doesn’t delete server log data but they anonymized it after a period of time so that the logs can’t be associated with a specific cookie ID or IP address. Instead of anonymizing cookie ID or IP address, Yahoo anonymizes the search queries and other user log data after three months where as Microsoft deletes them after 18 months.
Fight between user privacy concern and Google’s desire to offer flexibility in handling data is an ongoing act. It’s a give and take business between user and google – Google’s business is to make money from the information it gathers from its users and users make their life easy by using google’s product.

Honestly, it’s hard to even spend even 5 minutes without using Google or any site related to it these days..
