Google Analytics announces additional features
Google analytics introduction of additional features will surely calm the nerves of Pro users who want to extract detailed visitor information. After opening up API integration support, today it announced additional features which would propel more advanced usage even by beginners.
The following video walks through all the features:
Pivoting and Secondary Dimensions
Till now user could filter out the data with only one dimension now users can view data by two dimensions at once.Dimensions are used in most table views with fall-down menu that allow analysis of data. For e.g dimensions constitutes non-numerical information segmented as keywords and cities whereas metrics are numerical data like page views or pages/visit etc.
It simply means that users would be able to get more refined data without even using pro features like custom reporting although it would make things little tough.
Share Custom Reports and Advanced Segment Customizations
This is the most important of all features as it allows one user to share his custom report or advance segmentation filter with others. Sharing custom reports or advance segments does not mean same as sharing site data as it only allows the report structure to be transferred.
This will allow all Pro SEO bloggers to share their in-depth analytics report with other users by simply sharing a link instead of lengthy posts.
Manage Customizations Across Profiles
Till now there was no option to add custom reports and advanced segmenting filter separately to different profiles but now users will be able to choose which reports and segment they want to use with an individual profile.
This would help user to add more reports to important sites and selective to their less important counterparts.
These features are currently in beta and are rolled out to selective users only. This bout of additional features is focused more for pro users. We still are yet to witness the true power of API as only one app- Polaris allows API data manipulation till date.
Some features like Live stats, Feedburner stats integration and Multiple user defined values are still anxiously awaited.
