Our mission is to connect companies and professionals for promoting and conducting business, and enhancing their success by allowing them to concentrate in growing their business – says WAPR.com, a new social network for professionals. Started by Kiran Teelgia of Core Software Pvt. Ltd. WAPR aims to add a bit business sense to networking on the web which he feels is missing in a lot of networks.
“We’ve developed features that really matter. For example, a company can sign up, and immediately start receiving business leads. And, of course, they can post their own needs, and find new suppliers. But it goes way beyond that in terms of communications.” says Teegala in their press release announcing WAPR.com.
The idea moves beyond professionals networking actually. From what I saw on the website it completes a full circle for businesses and professionals in terms activities that one might use the web for. So it goes beyond making contacts to bringing business leads, recruitment, etc. In fact the features page on the site gives a huge list of stuff for professionals as well as businesses.
Their major sale point however might be the live chat option both within WAPR as well as on a company’s site. As they say in their release – The environment is real-time, so a company can setup a page, view who is on their page, and initiate communications via real-time chat (a feature called WAPR 24×7, which is one of the applications that come with WAPR). But they can also do this other places as well, a feature that Teegala is very excited about “Companies can paste a piece of code onto their websites, blogs, or even other social networks, and monitor them from WAPR. They can see someone come onto their website, and initiate a real-time chat.”
But besides this service or feature I hardly see any impact on the site (I must add here that I haven’t signed up on the site yet). I mean it is easy to say that businesses will immediately get leads as soon as they sign up, but it seems a bit far fetched an idea and quite wishful anyway.
The system might be able to do it, but because it is a partly manual i.e. companies have to put a business requirement for it to become a lead for someone else, it is not a guaranteed feature in my opinion. What if I am a car spare parts dealer in some god forsaken town of eastern India, I’d surely like to see if this can generate leads straightaway. Obviously that is a bad example, but I hope you get my point, currently WAPR is just a capable system and not yet a lead generation box till mroe users get on it.
The best part about the site is that it is a four letter domain, which though doesn’t mean much is still worth a lot of bucks these days. It would be interesting to see how people adapt to it in the future. MAybe I will add a review about it soon. What is your opinion about WAPR.com?

Not sure how companies and professionals co exist here. How can that be useful to companies ?
The professionals page looks similar to LinkedIn
when they say that if you spend more than 2 minutes to explain your idea, there is a need to look at it..they say that right!
If you have a idea that revenue generation can be done by google ad sense, it will make less than 2 minutes.
Anything else you need to explain is definitely going to take more than that.
So this is definitely not true.
Try starting a company and sell that idea to someone in 2 minutes and then we will see if it is possible or not
I think Wapr in hindi means business. It may be written as waapar or wapaar instead they might named it wapr. its my guess anyway
Wapr initially started with lowsey features and screen with a lot of bugs but i visited recently they have made is quite interesting.
