Google may again be in court because of Google Book Search service, Justice Department has started an inquiry on the antitrust settlement with authors and publishers. In 2005 Authors Guild and Association of American Publishers filed a class action against Google. According to the suite Google practice of scanning copyright books from library and using it for Google book Search service is a copyright violation , but according to the settlement in Oct 2005 Google has the right to display the books online and to profit them by selling them to users and selling subscription to other institutions and libraries sharing the revenues between Google , Authors and publishers.

Lawyers for Justice Department is working with various groups including Internet Archiver and Consumer Watchdog are opposing the settlement and states that Google will get an exclusive license to benefit from a huge collection of books whose authors and right holders are unknown.
Google along with some authors / publishers comments that this Google Book Service will benefit the community by renewing access to millions of out of print and nearly extinct books.
