Facebook announced the launch of Facebook Open Stream API which would empower developers with access to the core of the site so they can build new services and export facebook user data on other sites beyond facebook.

Facebook states that with this new API Facebook developers would be able to access the posts users have published into the stream and display them in their application, whether it’s on a mobile device, Web site or desktop.
Facebook has also launched The Facebook Desktop for Adobe AIR application is now available. Which can be installed from here. This application will allow users to access facebook stream from a adobe air desktop widget.
What does this mean for users?
This means now your data is portable to other platforms provided you sign up for them. So incase you are commenting on a wordpress blog and the same uses the open stream api then you would be able to access your data from within that blog if you signup for the same.
What does this mean for developers?
This means that developers can have an instant community build up on their site by integrating the facebook open stream api. Also this integration means their website would get viral traffic by the activity published on the facebook mini feed.
What does this mean for facebook?
For facebook this is the next natural step. This is their way of becoming ubiquitous and also going beyond the facebook platform and building interactions across the web. This is their way of being the default community on every webpage in the world. This is also their way to build a network across the web that can be big enough for advertisers to come on board

I like your blog. Thanks for the information I will visiting you blog often.
