While the case is closed on the Twitter profile of Shah Rukh Khan as a fake, Shah Rukh has officially began blogging on the Kolkata Knight Rider’s website. And thus now with the likes of Big B, Aamir and Salman the bigger Khan of them all has joined the bollywood celeb blog bandwagon (of course there is Shilpa Shetty and Gul Panag as well). The only difference here being that instead of a personal blog, it revolves around KKR and the IPL.
SRK has posted two posts till now and the team KKR blogs also has the Team CEO Joy Bhatacharya blogging. The blog is hosted at http://www.kkr.in/teamblogs.aspx and is a custom system is surprisingly built on flash.
While we haven’t covered it in detail yet, most of you might already know about the Fake KKR player blog. In Eka’s words it has to be the viral of the year with over 2000 subscribers in under a week. Speculations are rife about whether the fake blogger is part of the KKR team or not, and then there were reports of him being caught and apparently is someone not from KKR but associated with the IPL. There were others who said this is a marketing gimmick by the KKR management itself.
The jury is not out on this yet, but I fancy it to beĀ the last speculation more than anything else. Reasons?
- He hasn’t blogged since April 24th on what has been a daily regimen otherwise
- Shah Rukh began blogging on April 25th
- People are taking notice even when the blog claims to be fake, and even getting a response from Joy Bhattacharya
- The blog follows a very similar tread to that of the Fake Steve Jobs blog, essentially an Indianised version, which can be pulled of by any social media agency aware of how popular that casee turned out to be
Anyway, I tend to speculate a lot more in April and May, I guess it is a summer thing. In any case it is good to see another big name enter the blogosphere and I sincerely hope to see personal blog from SRK soon. Just because it will lend more credo to blogging as more than a web marketing essential.
The other IPL related blog announcement has that been of Harbhajan Singh getting on to the Big Adda platform.
#Update: A couple of hours after this post went live, the Fake IPL blogger updated his blog, essentially sending a very critical point of the analysis above for a toss.
