With the launch of much hyped Dell Adamo, Dell proved that it has the muscles to sustain as the world largest PC manufacturer but Adamo is not well accepted by the market as expected due to numerous reasons like heavy price tag ( Starting $1999) and Microsoft Vista which has already gained huge criticism because of its buggy and slow features.
Dell is not able to see the sales figures soaring as excepted because of poor timing ( recession hit world) and people not willing to spend $$ to buy another buggy Vista system . Altogether Dell can learn a lesson that people may accept and can be ready to pay huge price for a nice product but shipping it with a poor OS like Vista makes it a big no no in the market.
People are advocating Dell to ship customized linux ( -nix) based system that can help both Dell and the users. Dell can provide the users better hardware at lower cost as the cost of operating system will be much lower and only cost will be the customization cost of some -nix based system. Users will be benefited by having access to a better OS and having much better support from a large open source community of users.
Ubuntu is one of the front runners as it has been associated with Dell for a while .It can be customized for a much better user experience to help push the sales of a much awaited product like Adamo.
Dell has to learn a lesson from the recent setbacks and should try to experiment more with better and stable OS like Ubuntu or some other linux flavours to keep the fire burning.
