Zapak To Peddle Japanese Toys To Indian Kids

Zapak which recently started promoting the MNS is now going to market kids toys in India. This summer Zapak will introduce a range of Bakugan toys. These toys are based on the hit Japanese anime television series – Bakugan and are very popular in the international markets.

Bakugan Battle Brawlers has been awarded as the toy of the Year and It has also received accolades on being the “Boy Toy of the Year”.  It has sold over 0.5 Million toys and now zapak hopes to sell the same in India. The toys are priced at Rs.399 – Rs.599.

Commenting on the launch, Rohit Sharma, Chief Operating Officer, Zapak Digital Entertainment Ltd. said, “We at Zapak believe in providing our customers with the best products available. The Battle of Brawlers is an absolute rage in the international markets and we are offering these world class products to our Indian audience at dropdown prices. We will continue to offer the best available licensing and merchandising products to our audience regularly.”

Our take on this merchandising deal

Well atleast its related to the gaming market in someway and also related to their target audience as im sure kids would be one of the primary audiences on zapak.com. But what worries me is instead of focussing on making engagement oriented games Zapak is fast turning into a “we will market anything to the youth” kind of company.

With regards to these toys its also a way for zapak to build a brand with the younger audiences with stuff they can actually take home. So it has a longterm impact with regards to brand recall and also associates zapak with fun toys = fun and gaming =fun as well. Hence it works!
