Google Profiles Now In Google Search Results – Google Yourself To See!

There’s been a growing user demand for having some control over what people find when people search for a name on Google. Giving people some mechanism of controlling it is meeting a big piece of consumer demand. Keeping up with its recent updates and new features, Google has rolled out a new feature which lets the user do exactly that. From now, your Google profile will be inserted at the bottom of the SERP (Search Engine Results Page) whenever someone searches for your name in Google! (an example)

Though Google Profiles is a relatively basic service, (it currently allows you to sync your photos with Picasa Web Albums, put contact details and share your Social Networking profiles) it could be a big boon to the service as this is surely going to lead to a huge increase in the sign up for the service.

And of course, if you are logged into Google, you can directly search for the keyword “me” to find your Google profile on the results page!

This looks like an important piece of arsenal in Google’s social networking strategy, which has constantly been getting aggressive. Before this, Google launched Google Friend Connect which allows you to spice up your site by adding social features into it. Although this setup is not exactly like a social network in the conventional sense, but the groundwork has been laid. It looks as if Google is all ready to use its search dominance to push its way into the social networking platform in a big way.

    I tried replicating the same after reading a similar post in techcrunch, and now after reading yours too, but I cant seem to replicate the same results. I dont see any pop kinda thing showing possible “People”.

    Is the service currently limited to a few users only or what?

    @Kartik Gupta:
    Hey Kartik! I can see a Kartik Gupta from BITS-Pilani at the bottom of the SERP (Search Engine Result Page). I know it’s not you, but the placement of the profile also (obviously) depends on your net presence and how many times (or rather how many social networking profiles) Google can index for you.

    It also takes some time to update once you have registered fpr the service!
    Hope that helps :)

    I got my Google profile!

    My name “Rob Abdul” for the last 3 years has been my brand name.

    Google has 3,360,000 results for my name Rob Abdul.

    I was so proud when my name appeared in Google suggest.

    It may not sound like much but at least 60 to 80 people Google me a month.

    It is nice for the Ego, I must admit!
