3 Must Know Interviews on Digital Marketing – Mobile, Wiki and Social Media

On Facebook today I liked a friend’s status – Weekends are for inspiration and weekdays for execution. Though this is the first time I read this I have been implementing this into my worklike for quite some while now. So weekends are usually time to sit back and read up and get inspired, get ideas and most importantly gain knowledge. This weekend having some time on hands to blog, I thought of putting through these three references of interviews you must know if you are into digital media and marketing.

The Web 2.0 Saga

The 1938 Media interview of SMM maverick Gary Vaynerchuk

Get some real insights into Web 2.0 marketing from the one guy who has actually got it and the results to boot.

The Indian Mobile Story

India has huge potential in terms of growth and in terms of web allocations, too, it has immense opportunity to capitalise on mobile growth. Although mobile population in India is small – around 300 million with rich media capability – but if we can devise a way to effectively communicate to the masses through mobile, then mobile can also be a very effective advertising vehicle in India.

Sean Finnegan, President & Chief Digital Officer, Starcom MediaVest Group quoted this in an interview to Exchange4Media about the India’s mobile marketing and advertising scenario. I found the interview insightful and you can read the piece here.

How Marketers Got it Wrong with Wikis

Another insightful interview on web 2.0 marketing with the man who created Wikipedia himself – Jimmy Wales. While the evolution of Wikis have been part of the web 2.0 folklore as much as blogging it has not gained as much marketing acceptance as blogs and social networks. I feel part of the problem is the fact that Wikipedia was never monetized and so no one knew the monetary capability of Wiki to really capture its essence.t And therefore it didn’t go mainstream like others and therefore marketers never knew what to do. Anyway, Jimmy Wales has better views on this matter. The interview is posted here.
