TMT Investment Pte Ltd, the company behind the iplt20.com website which is also the official global internet and mobile rights licensee for the DLF Indian Premier League (DLF IPL) has signed an exclusive worldwide relationship with Zenga Entertainment Pvt. Ltd., as its exclusive mobile partner for DLF IPL for five years from 2009. This means Zenga would monetize the mobile content for TMT for next 5 years.
According to this deal exclusive live video streaming and ball by ball updates of all DLF IPL matches would be powered by ZengaTV, CrickZenga directly on the mobile handsets. This means users will also be able to access a real-time ball-by-ball coverage of the matches.
ZengaTV claims that the video streaming will work on a high majority of the mobile phones available today and will also work on 2G networks. There is no word when this live streaming would be available to users and at what cost. One would have to wait and watch the launch of these services and their uptake by users based on its pricing.
