Delhi Daredevils Reach Out To Fans Via Mobile Community On Mig33

We recently did a roundup of all the IPL websites and the fanzones. It seems newer tie ups to promote their respective teams keep croping up as the tournament nears its start date. Now Delhi daredevils have gone ahead and tied up with international mobile community site Mig33 to launch a mobile chat service via which Delhi Daredevils players can connect with their huge fan base in India and around the world.

Th fanzone on Mig33 will enable dedicated chat rooms, live ball-by-ball commentary, important news updates from the team and buying of official Delhi Daredevils virtual merchandise

Delhi Daredevils fans can sign up by sending “DD” to 57575 or by downloading mig33 directly from their phone’s browser (m.mig33.com/dd). mig33 currently works on over 2,000 different mobile phone models.

Mobile is Preferred Medium for IPL?

Most IPL teams seem to be looking towards the mobile medium to connect with fans. After all mobile does reach out to over 350 million users in India. Smsgupshup another group sms service has also tied up with 3 IPL teams to power their mobile fan zones. Most of these teams have more than 20000 subscribers already on smsgupshup. This does point at a trend that mobile communities might actually work for immersive topics like cricket and especially when weaved around tournaments like the IPL.

I think the daredevils partnership with Bigadda is a complete waste! I mean who visits bigadda shitty social network these days? I wish they would focus more on facebook and building their community there.
