Ibibo Introduces Ning Like Feature Called Networks

Ibibo is trying to be one stop destination for most of the web users with continuous addition to its services and they have added one more feather in their cap with introduction of Network feature a.k.a Ning.com or white label social network.

Ibibo networks is similar to ning although it provides less customization options than ning. The dashboard and layout is pretty simple and easy to use. To create an ibibo network a user requires Ibibo id which would automatically be created while registering a network.

There are three options for network privacy which includes:

  • Public (Anyone will be able to search, see and join your network).
  • Private (Request approved by moderators).
  • Secret (Invitation only network).

There are 7 types of templates for customization and currently customization could be set differently for user profile and public pages.

In all they provide blog posts, media, public wall posting, user following and status updates for users using the network. The positive thing about these networks is absence of any advertising on the network.

Some feedback to Ibibo:
A user has to register as ibibo member first and then is forward to network registration page it might make things simpler for users who wants to follow many networks but mars the purpose of white label networks for company. The option to customize the registration page would be a big plus.

They do not provide analytics information although they do have simple alert thing.

They do not have forums on networks which are very popular on ning.

The most important thing which could attract corporates or brands to ibibo networks is the integration of networks into ibibo services. This definitely gives more exposure to the brand putting it directly in purview of the ibibo users and is first of its kind service.

At the same time ibibo would be gaining more users as all the networks attracting initial signups would be automatically added to Ibibo network. It is up to them to decide whether they want to utilize this platform for just user interests or corporate services through some paid customisation options.
