1takemedia, an entertainment jobs portal in association with Whistling Woods International (WWI),A Mukta arts academy has launched its next Film Competition, which promises to be India’s largest film competition, giving all film makers a revenue generating platform for exposure and distribution of their work.

1takemedia is a niche job site catering to entertainment sector particularly film and tv industry whereas WWI is a learning academy for aspiring entertainment sector junkies.

They have also tied up with In.com for online promotion.

Competition details:

The competition would give chance to aspiring filmmakers to show their skills and in the process also win prizes.

The jury would include famous directors like Subhash Ghai, Ketan Mehta, Vikram Bhatt, John Mathew Matthan, Mike Pandey, and Jabbar Patel.

This competition has three segments based on the length of the film / documentary.

The categories are Film and Documentary

a) under 10 minutes-prize money: Rs. 50000

b) over 10 minutes to 30 minutes: Rs. 1lakh each

c) From 30 minutes to 60 minutes: Rs.1 lakh each

How to apply:

Interested members can send their films to

or

Visit 1takemedia.buzz18.com to upload their entries.

The films can be shot in any format including Handycam, PD 170, DV, miniDV etc.

The types of films that will be selected include fictional short films, documentaries, live and animation.

There would be no entry fees and the last date for submission of the entries is March 31, 2009 .

This Film Competition also brings with it a revenue generating platform for the film makers according to which they will have a channel to distribute their films through this competition as 1takemedia has offered to share 50 % of the net income from distribution of the short films and documentaries submitted.

This competition would provide aspiring film makers a chance to show their talent and also monetize their film making plans but what really dampener is the absence of any big prize money or contract obligation which could play spoil sport in this game.

This could also signal entry of many entertainment players to launch their own talent showcase portal after looking at the success of reality and talent hunt competitions in India.
