SchoolMATE Raises Funding From Chennai Fund

We had written about Schoolmate a while back in 2006 and we had given it a thumbs up for being a mobile based complete student analysis system. Well Schoolmate has finally got its due and has raised funding from Chennai fund through a business plan contest. Chennai fund angel investors comprising Suresh Kalpathi (SSI, Aptech, Kalpathi Investments), R Ramaraj (Sify, Sequoia), K B Chandrasekhar (e4e, Jamcracker), Gopal Srinivasan (TVS), Raghu Rajagopal (Energeate) and Ram Mohan (Afilias) have chosen to invest in bridle the company behind the SchoolMATE product.

Currently over 70,000 Parents in the cities of Hyderabad and Vishakapatnam (Vizag) are using schoolmate and are being updated on their mobiles  about their childs progress at school.

SchoolMATE is a Saas based product offered to institutes which helps track student performance, teacher performance, analysis of financial information, staff payroll, timetable, attendance etc. As it is a simple SMS based service it has better adoption.

The amount of funding isn’t disclosed but Raghu Rajagopal from Chennai Fund joins Chandrasekhar Kopparapu (Investor and Mentor – SchoolMATE and VP – APAC, Foundry Networks) on the Board of Directors.
