The Incubation Centre - Center for Innovation Incubation and Entrepreneurship [CIIE] at IIM Ahmedabad in association with Leverage - the Student Initiative group, is organizing a Venture Capital Private Equity Conference on 6th - 7th of February. Part of the Conference will also be the Showcase Event on the 6th, which will witness 10 Entrepreneurs presenting their concepts to at least 10 venture capitalists.

The BPlan competition is being organised in association with a new VC fund Epiphany Ventures which is a Sector Agnostic Fund, with a size of $25 Million. This fund focusses on early stage investments, but is also looking at investing in later stages if the opportunity is suitable. Mr. Gaurav Saraf the Director of the Fund would be present at the showcase.

The Bplan entries have to go through a three step evaluation process after which the top 10 teams will be invited to present their plans to industry experts, academicians, and investors. The event is different from other business plan competitions as there is no cash prize or winner of the showcase. Instead, budding
entrepreneurs will get a chance to attract actual funding from venture capitalists in order to expand and grow their business ideas.

All in all such events are the need of the hour to encourage entrepreneurship at the college level.

  1. Excellent. Waiting to read about it here.

My advance votes to the entrepreneurs who have a revenue mechanism as part of their offering rather than hoping to make money from sponsored ads or Google Adsense.
