In India we’ve got used to a ‘Viral Marketing Campaign’ being associated with animated 2D cartoon ad-films. What we keep forgetting is that a real ‘Viral’ campaign is one which spreads virally. Something which is so cool that you feel like sharing it with others. It need not be a flash animated video.
Came across AdultDost.com yesterday and it was a really refreshing change from the usual ‘Viral Marketing’ attempts which we’ve got used to.
Did you know that AdultFriendFinder.com is one of the most popular sites in the world!? Well Alexa puts it at #50! AdultDost.com is made by Media2win for their client Tata Sky.
Apologies for giving part of the fun away! The problem which Tata Sky, Media2win and other such campaigns face is that you have to get the visitor to click on one of the elements on the homepage. There is a huge possibility that a user will simply leave the site assuming that it is a porn site or simply fake!
This campaign is not going to get Tata Sky any new subscribers for Active Darshan, but it might just get creative people to talk about this campaign. It’s cool, it should get shared and the agency will be hoping for an award! All kudos to Tata Sky and their Brand Manager for going ahead with something like this!
