Dear All,
Hope all who are from mumbai are well. My heart goes out to those victimized by this tragedy. I was up till 4am today morning trying to get in touch with everyone.
Hope God gives each one of us strength to get through these tough times. Do let us know if we can be of any help in anyway in Mumbai.

In general I think people should stay off the roads today so that the work by the security personnel can be completed. Lets hope things come back to normal soon.
All’s well on our end but the sheer sight of seeing mumbai being attacked has got WAT and the WATBloggers community very sad and subdued.

Here is my Hypothesis of how the Mumbai terrorist attack was made possible:
The Pakistan Marine Agency has been kidnapping and capturing Indian fishing vessels for the last 5 years. Look at this news link:

Pakistan then puts these kidnapped fishermen into jail and periodically decides to either release them or to keep them languishing in jail depending on whether it wants to take favors from India to release its citizens languishing in Indian jails for much more heinous crimes.
The Indian government has done nothing, zilch, nada in the last many years to take care of the above situation.
The terrorists apparently took this situation a step further. They took the help of the Pakistan Marine Agency
to kill/kidnap and hijack an Indian fishing trawler. Next they loaded up the vessel with explosives and
grenades manufactured in Pakistani factories. Finally they entered Mumbai (with all their prior research and review of the cities famous landmarks and their floor plans) and launched these attacks.
Conclusion: The above goes to show that there are several factors leading to this tragedy:
ignoring the dangers posed by allowing Pakistanis to enter Indian territory by air, land and water without realizing the dangers it would pose to Indian lives
1) the lackadaisical attitude of the government in dealing firmly with Pakistan
2) the apathy of Indian citizens who were happy to be tolerant and look the other way
3) the absence of policing security and law system that protects the citizenry proactively
4) the lack of political will to impose strong laws - the Congress is a leader on this
5) the willingness to negotiate with terrorists - the BJP created a horrible precedent during the Indian
Airlines hijacking incident few years ago
6) the lack of cool self-assessment of what India’s strengths and weaknesses are in the security and law/order area
7) opening up of borders with Pakistan - a country that is predominantly lawless and where the government only pretends to govern. We have spent too much time trying to build a relationship with a government that cannot control its internal environment
9) constant interference in the functioning of the defence forces by the Indian government
10) not investing in intelligence, security and training that is world class to ensure that the police can deal with such incidents
11) agnostic Indian citizen psyche that refuses to get united and is happy in living in denial untill they are not personally attacked
12) a citizenry that does not hold its politicians responsible for their actions.

No1 can terrorise india.. the terrorists thought they can win by killing lots and creating threat in India, but what i think is the terrorists has entertained india, they got themself struck inside the hotel and building fearing the NSG commandos…Those coverds… And we Indians were sitting with the popcorn in the hand in front of the television sets and we enjoying seeing terrorist get hunted down by our soldiers live in news channels… Hurreehhhhhhhhhhhh to India……..
I have been scouring thru Google and TV reports looking for a place to donate to the people impacted by the terror attacks - have not found one
Is it not highly important to raise the awareness for the need for money to support those impacted - like the kid who survived but lost his entire family and while the horror is fresh in people’s minds?
If this had happened in the US or other places places to donate by calling in would have started shortly soon after the disaster started.

Why are we so incompressibly tolerant of these bombings which seem to happen with morbid regularity in one city or another, and the inability of our government to do anything at all to prevent them? Are our claims to be a future super power just delusional, or is there some substance behind them? Real super powers show judgement and determination in tackling the dangers they face, and an unquestioned will to protect their citizens come what may. Just look at the US. By contrast, our people and politicians take everything in stride as though they were watching the latest bollywood flick that would be over in 3 hours and every one would get on with their lives after that.
Where is the outrage? Who is accountable?

if anyone was glued to the their TV sets one was even able to c advertisements of BJP stating on how they wldnt allow this.. LK advani says that he has come with his team and the PM hasnt come yet.. one simple qstn to him.. what did Advani do?? NOTHING…
This kind of terrorist attack not happened any where in the world, why it happened only in india?. who is responsible this attach, do we indian has not security at all. So many people died for no reason by terrorists. Its very sad to learn and see the actual position of mumbai terrorist attack. What is being done by the Raj Thackrey while some times back he retealitited about the Bhaiye. Well to congrats all Fauji, NSG commandoes for their dedicated work for the sake of nation and Mumbai. Is the raj thackrey is aware of the fact, wht is he doing resting in his house, why dont he view physically the delapidated condition of the commandoes action.
I wish some of the politicians would have taken as hostages and atleast 3-4 ministers would have stayed in the taj hotel and should have brutally killed, ONLY then our govt will take these attacks enough seriously. After 1-2 months I expect another attack in India, because its been a trend that every 2 months we are witnessing a terror attack.I HOPE atleast one politician wil be killed in the next attack, to get the sense of the brutalaity going on in our country. Yes how can we help! That is the key. We must make sure this does not happen again. Lets use technology, we are good at that, to deter any possible future attacks.
DNA should be taken of all the dead terrorists and other suspects and it can be used by the investigators to trace the origin of the terrorists eventually.

Hi this is with regards to the terror attacks in Mumbai. I am a Mumbaite, was kind of taken aback by the whole patronizing of the NSG. Sure they did a good job, but calling them the heroes of the hour is quite out of line.
It took the NSG three days to neutralize a situation that should have been resolved in three hours.If they are so good maybe they can be half as fast to respond and neutralize a situation. After all it was just luck that there wasn’t a hostage situation to respond to….I mean three days?.
Secondly, they were the last to arrive on the scene like the following morning.And managed to contain a situation which was already contained.
Also one of the NSG personal was arrogant enough to brief the press of a volatile situation.Fortunately no one from the Mumbai police did so, even though they saw much of the action
The real heroes of the hour were the Mumbai police,
1)who shot down most of the terrorists with their
2)Faced them with no body armor and antique (.303 although am sure on the model)rifles
3)Protected the citizens when the needed it most
4)prevented more civilians from dying
5)Fell in the line of fire when they could have simply waited for the ‘Heroes of the day” to save us
I think its outrageous to call the NSG the guys who saved the day,simply because there was no one left to save
Also its quite ironic that the press failed to even mention the names of the officers, other then the senior ones in their reports
I’m not trying to underplay the role of the NSG here, just feel strongly that it was the Mumbai police who saved Mumbaikars at the end of the day
I am really applaud by coments of Amit Gupta on nov 28th,(Hats off to you) all i suggest we be self vigilant & do not expect to depend on government. Yes they need to technology & more sophisticated arams to Police, wish we could have not lost those Police Officers who were with Pistols or with .303 World war II - Obsolete weapons.
Each of us has to act like self dependent & we should carry some weapon to protect our Lives & place of our livelihood..
it is depressing and heart breaking.. but we need to realise why this has happened. our constitution states “we the people”..” give to ourselves”.. sticking by that … there is no one to blame, but ourselves… taking pride in being the worlds largest democracy isn’t it. … for god’s sake.. we should make the right decision ..give the right vote…

Common observations: 1. The media going hysterical to make the most out of the situation to prove that they are the smartest, in the process providing continuous vital inputs to the terrorists. The media are responsible for at least 25% of the deaths and much of the damage. Total area should have been cordoned off, media kept out, and only home ministry bulletins broadcast/printed.
2. No publicity or sympathy in the media for the large number of common people who died at CST. All time and space for VIPs in Taj and Oberoi. The media worship only the affluent even in a disaster, conveniently forgetting that in birth and death all human beings are the same.
3. No national mourning. It would have been there if any minister or family members of prominent politicians had been killed in the attacks.
4. Throught the period of the national tragedy, cheap entertainment shows continued in the TV channels, such as the monkey brand Reliance laughter show and prostitute brand filmi shows. Society has to punish these media and the people behind them. Some film producers must be already planning to mint money out of this misery by producing a masala film within a year or two on this episode.
5. The backbonelessness of Central Govt.is proven beyond doubt, at a very great cost to the people.
Hi Hemant, Mumbai policemen got killed while running helter skelter and not fighting terrorists.
All the top bosses were cleaned up without their even knowing what hit them. Trust them to save Mumbai!!!
Every Indian is angry and feels sorry at the same time for what we all had to go through. Even if many of us wernt physically assaulted but it has played on our minds.
I believe it is time for the reforms, political and constitutional. Every youth in the country should wake up and take the leadership!

There were many who did that, that night were either lucky for not being caught by a bullet or unlucky to have not been caught by the camera.Just the fact that the officers in the video are still holding their ground even after they see a fellow officer standing right next to them should prove my point.
Also the terrorists were shot down and did no die of a heart stroke like the press would like you to believe, at the end of the day. Our press loves making issues, it really needs to get a spine!
Each one of us now has a way to channel our anger and frustration into something positive to help those whose lives have been shattered by these attacks.
