Would it be possible to port a number in different state? Like if I live in Delhi and move to Mumbai, will I be able to keep the same no.?

As i think The MNP has some configuration like centrlised DB, where the all CSP's can share cutomer data.In india govt has to give liance to some vendor so that they can configure the complaex system. Its a very usful thing in all aspect for each person as well as for any country. Its stops the misuse of identity, monotony of changing no's + incresesing the competition in current Telecom Sp's.
Definitly all my friends told about the main revenue issue like VAS applications one of imp aspect for MNP. But still india shoul think over the present Telecominfra and try to involve new technology as soon as in the new market.

While MNP will surely break the tyranny of operators, I don't believe that VAS will be a big reason for a subscriber to switch. It's more likely that users will switch due to better tariffs offered by other operators compared to the current one.

MNP surely would be a godsend for subscribers, any idea about CDMA to GSM mobile number portability? Is that also planned?
