A lot needs to be done on all the fronts, Indian Online adverting industry will still take a couple of years until companies break even and become real profitable ventures. Most of them right now are startups in many ways. Even conglomerates like WEB18 are in losses rite now.

It was a good experience to see a mash-up of technology and media view points. but I really wished the seminar focused more advertising, revenue-models etc. Nevertheless I took home lessons to ponder over the weekend.

I would encourage such debates and discussions happening in India more often. Good effort by Rajiv and his team and it shall cntinue.
however, panel fails to bring any freshness in the discussions and ignite spark on future roadmap of digital media. Surya is right when he says we have killed the growth of digital media by giving measuabaility. BUt this is where we are going wrong. Why do we need to believe that advertising is the soul of brand building and oxygen to the growth of digital media. The basic primise of advertising was to get heard and to let people know how to use their new products. This was far more true for uneducated society in post indutrial world, but not any more.. advertising has to evolve and become more marketing and sales will become just transaction over e commerce.
yes, we missed growth of infrastructure on internet, but we also missed application and growing the industry. Look at million of people having PCs at home whose kids are studying. They hardly use the PC because there are no real application besides creepy broadband supply. So we did not even honestly optimize what we promised to deliver to consumer...
