offline centres, call centres are indeed good moves for customer acquistion, but very non scalable models.Outside metros, old system is still working fine and people find that very cost effective. The moment companies begun to scale offline models ( other than web), they would loose balance between scalability, cost and value proposition. For sure they will land up growing overall market size, but in absense of more value proposition, it will turn out very expansive for them. Right now, the best they do is matching database and that too in very is not very smart and hassle free. There is a need and demand for higher value for user. Around the web, consumer has moved up in their expectation from the web, while companies have not innovated in terms of delivery in last 10 years. So unless shaddi and BM get serious about enhancing consumer engagement life cycle, none of these models of offline would be effortless growth....

Service Delivery of Personalised Service is only possible thru offline centres. It seems BM's offline presence is almost nil. Shaadi's offline presence is very strong, they will be able to justify the benefit of this service more than BM. I think BM launched it just for the name sake....Time will tell!

Nice one... but do not think so that Bharat Matry will compite with Shaadi.com as they are have offline centre's chain in INDIA (155+ Centres accross india).!!!!!!!!!!!!! So, it will be hard to provide prsonlized serv to cust...And for Shaadi it is very easy as they have the same serv for 6 month and 12 month with very cheap rate than bharatmatry...so tuf time for bharatmatry in personlized market ..NO ONE CAN BEAT SHAADI IN PERSONLIZED MARKET!!!!!!!! LET'S SEE ,,....

This indeed is good move for both the companies. Does not matter who copied who, conusmer benifits. I find bharat materimony having vision more than shaadi.com( purely based on their press release) in terms of how they wish to scale this service but both these companies seems to be far away in cracking the real problem coming in match making. there is hardly any difference in terms of match making for marriage and doing M & A and if any one of these companies can implement the process in their products, they would have killer app. They offer lowest value in the entire engagement cycle and if they move up to offer complete service to the user, there is much more brand value and money in it and it does not require any patented technologies to be implemented. It is simple work flow and e service built around web 2.0 concept for creating intercative community...
