Vivek Pahwa of Desimatini fame whom we have interviewed earlier on WATBlog is getting aggressive with his new set of sites that he launched a few months back. Not only that he has renamed his company from Pahwa KBS to Accentium and also roped in 3 other co-founders who are post graduates from ISB (Indian School of Business) in Hyderabad. Some time ago Vivek had also invested in Antya.com and we asked him via mail if Antya is also a part of Accentium but he refused to comment on the same.
Gaadi.com which claims to be India’s No. 2 Auto Portal behind seedfund funded Carwale.com has launched an sms feature for used car sellers. According to the release a user has to enter his / her used car details on Gaadi.com and within a short period of time will start receiving SMS messages from interested parties directly through the site.
We question Vivek if he would be looking for funding in the future for Accentium and his reply was “We have capitalized Accentium to meet our immediate goals. Raising money would depend on uptake of our businesses, and requirement of funds to scale.”
WATBlog Analysis on Secondshaadi
On the Secondshaadi.com front I feel it could be an acquisition target for Shaadi.com. Just like Naukri.com acquired the domain name from FirstNaukri.com but in that case Firstnaukri had essentially failed to scale and shutdown before the domain name was acquired. In this case Pahwa is ramping up operations and secondshaadi already boasts of 70,000 members. Another point to note is that Pahwa has already made early and smart exit in desimartini (speculated at less than 10 million $) and one option (besides for scaling secondshaadi) is to do that same with Secondshaadi.com to an existing matrimony player.
We asked Vivek his take on such an acquisition if it comes his way? He said “At the moment, we are committed to building a larger multi-product internet company. So not looking at an exit.”
We have already analysed how second marriages is a tough thing in the Indian context and more and more people would pay to subscribe to such a site provided it gave a sense of security and safety to users.
In all secondshaadi.com does look like a perfect acquisition target for shaadi.com. Though only time will tell how things work out if at all.
